Colegio Nacional Galapagos (highschool) is located on the small island of Santa Cruz in the spectacular and
historic Galapagos Islands. Citizens of the Galapagos islands are often isolated from educational opportunities
because of their physical distance from the mainland. Learning English is a very important economic tool for the
habitants of the islands in order to participate in the local and tourist economies and improve their quality
of life. The school educates children and teenagers and prepares them to be savey protectors of their local
environment which is the principal attraction of the islands.
This placement needs volunteer because Citizens of the Galapagos islands are often isolated from educational
opportunities because of their physical distance from the mainland. Learning English is a very important
economic tool for the habitants of the islands in order to participate in the local and tourist economies and improve
their quality of life.
As a volunteer on the island of Santa Cruz you will be helping people to improve their lives by teaching
English, sharing in their culture, and experiencing the magic and beauty of this internationally coveted
destination.
Volunteers can assist by doing the following tasks:
- Teaching English - Being active in the community
-Facilitating classes in dance, theatre, work with gold and silver, gastronomy. -Potentially organizing and
facilitating leadership workshops and conferences
Requirements
Volunteers must be of age 18 or above with minimum education of high school. This placement does not need any
volunteers in the month of Jan, Feb and Mar.
