Oversees the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling of volunteer workers. Ensures that the
activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. May require a bachelor's degree in
area of specialty and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the
field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is
expected. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
MISSION STATEMENT
Established in February 2008, we are demand-driven, grassroots nonprofit organization of emerging farmers,
enthusiastic gardeners and conscious consumers who are working together to provide access to farmland, resources,
education and training so members can grow healthy food in urban sustainable farms, create entrepreneurship and
address the socioeconomic issues of the Latino community in Louisiana.
OUR GOALS
[1] To strengthen the capacity among Latino families in the area of food, urban farming and nutrition.
[2] To improve access to nutritious, affordable, traditional and ethically foods.
[3] To increase food security among low-come neighborhoods that lack full service food stores.
[4] To foster social and economic justice in programs and services.
[5] To support food and urban agriculture policies that promote local food production, processing and
consumption.
Requirements
More than academic qualifications, we looking for students interested in social change, committed, and devoted
to the project under his/her coordination. Person must be focus-oriented, a team player and motivated to
implement urban agricultural programs as well as social programs that assist low-income Latino families in Orleans
Parish. He/she must have strong organizational and communication skills. A qualified candidate would have a
passion for food, farming and the healing arts and the ability to empower underserved immigrants.
