 Mission Statement
	
The mission of  LIGHT FOR THE CHILDREN is to be a way orphans and vulnerable children, in their community, can be cared 
for and come to their God-given potential, making use of agents of change in the community itself, to have African 
societies that were formerly disrupted become whole and happy environments in which children can grow up, to become a model for 
care in global context.
	
 Description
LIGHT FOR THE CHILDREN is a faith based organization in and for the African context. It started ten years ago in an  
organic way, inside a very poor, fragmented and disrupted community. Its main actors are community members with the calling 
of caregiving, teaching and leading. The program equips, trains and empowers such people, while it aims at 
comprehensively reaching orphans and vulnerable children by serving them with all available talents in their community, also creating 
links and networks with government and other organizations. 

Light for the Children has an HIV/Aids component and does gardening and other activities as well. At the moment, it 
works in three centers and serves a further 12 centers over a wide area, reaching more than 700 children and teenagers as 
well as family members.
