We are a community-based organization of committed Christian staff and volunteers whose faith inspires us to engage actively in service to people and organizations in underserved neighborhoods of Boston. We seek to renew urban neighborhoods physically, socially, and spiritually. We build mutually caring relationships with our neighbors. We partner with local churches, community groups, and service organizations to realize a shared vision for the neighborhood. The Boston Project invests in at-risk children and youth by providing programs that address their educational, social, and spiritual needs. The Boston Project assists low income homeowners and non-profit organizations by making urgent repairs and im-provements to their properties. We accomplish our mission by mobilizing, training, and equipping volunteers. We engage people of all ages from urban, suburban and rural communities in compassionate service characterized by giving to and receiving from those served. We multiply our efforts by promoting leadership development. We provide staff training, internships, networking opportunities and technical assistance to individuals, groups and churches engaging in urban service ministries.
Mission Statement
The Boston Project is a community-based organization in Boston with a passion for seeing renewal in urban neighborhoods. We operate several neighborhood outreach ministries and also partner with over twenty faith-based and secular organizations to meet the physical, social, academic, and spiritual needs of people. Our motivation is our Christian faith and this principle summarized in the Gospels: Love God and love your neighbor. This year we will help mobilize hundreds of volunteers of all ages to be involved in compassionate service. We have several opportunities for you to serve and learn with us. We are best suited to host junior high, high school, college, and adult groups of Christian faith. During the summer, we also invite 10 adults (college age or older) to lead our Summer Missions Program as a paid internship. Know that we are people who live with passion and purpose! We are daily challenged by the question from the Bible "Do you know what is good?" The answer: "To live justly, to love mercy, and walk humbly with God." Join us in living such a life by adding your gifts to what God is doing right now in Boston.
Description
Organizational Statement of Faith
The Boston Project Ministries is a non-denominational Christian organization. We have churches of many denominations partner and serve with us. Additionally, God has called us to be a ministry that works with his church family made up of people from many cultures! We affirm these truths as the foundation of our Christian faith: We believe the 66 canonical books of the Bible as originally written to be the inspired and authoritative Word of God, hence free from error. The Bible constitutes our only infallible guide in faith and practice. We believe there is one God, the Creator and Preserver of all things, infinite in being and perfection. God exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory. We believe that humankind, created in the image of God, through disobedience became sinful at the suggestion of Satan, entered into a condition of spiritual death and can be saved from this condition only by the grace of God, through faith in the atoning work of Christ. We believe in Jesus Christ, God incarnate and his virgin birth, sinless life, wondrous miracles, atoning death, victorious bodily resurrection, glorious ascension, and in his personal earthly return to complete his rule as King and to consummate the eternal plan of God. We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose indwelling in human lives enables the work of Christ. By justification we stand sinless before God and by sanctification our human nature is renewed. We believe that genuine disciples of Christ are accountable to God for living a life separated from sin, marked by the fruits of the Spirit, and contributing by word and deed to spreading the Gospel message. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead at the end of the age. Those who have been saved by grace shall enter into the eternal presence of God, while those lost in sin shall enter into eternal condemnation.
